What QR Workbench actually does
A free, browser-based QR code generator for eleven formats, plus a bulk workspace that turns a spreadsheet into a ZIP of correctly named codes. No signup, nothing uploaded to a server.
What it does
QR Workbench turns whatever you type — a link, a WiFi password, a contact card — into a real, scannable QR code, instantly, in your browser. Pick a format, fill in the fields, download an SVG or PNG. Need a few hundred or a few thousand at once instead of one? The bulk workspace takes a CSV and generates a ZIP.
How the encoding actually works
Every code is generated with a real QR encoding library, not a decorative pattern — the same one used across millions of production sites. You control the error correction level (L through H), size, margin, and colors, and the result is a standards-compliant QR code every time.
Format-specific generators don't just encode plain text. WiFi codes are built as a proper WIFI:T:...;S:...;P:...;; payload, vCards follow the vCard 3.0 contact-card format, and email/SMS/phone codes use the standard mailto:, sms:, and tel: schemes that phones already know how to handle. That's the difference between a code that scans into "a pile of text" versus one that opens the right app with the right fields filled in.
Formats supported today
Google Forms, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and PDF generators encode a link you provide — QR Workbench doesn't host, verify, or have any relationship with those platforms beyond generating a code that points to a URL you already control.
Why static QR
A static QR code has its destination encoded directly into the pattern. There's no redirect server in between — which means no ongoing dependency on QR Workbench (or anyone else) to keep working, and no expiry date. The tradeoff is that a static code can't be edited after it's printed; if the destination needs to change, you generate a new one. For most use cases — a WiFi sign, a business card, a product link — that tradeoff is the right one.
Free generators, paid bulk
The eleven individual generators above are free, permanently, with no account and no limit. The bulk workspace — CSV upload, column mapping, batch generation, ZIP export — is intended to be the paid side of QR Workbench once payment launches; see the pricing section for where that stands today. Right now, bulk generation is free to use while payment and licensing are still being built.
Privacy by construction
Every generator — individual and bulk — runs entirely in your browser's own JavaScript. There's no server-side component receiving what you type, so there's nothing to log even if we wanted to. Read the Privacy Policy for the specifics.
What's still being built
Printable label sheets (A4/Letter, rows and columns of codes with captions) and payment/licensing for the bulk workspace are both in progress — the Label Generator page is a placeholder until that ships. QR Workbench intentionally isn't trying to become a dynamic-QR platform, an analytics dashboard, or an account-based SaaS — the free generator and the bulk workflow are the whole product.
